CED Fund Request for Proposals Announced
August 2nd, 2006
This year Governor Mark Sanford was most instrumental in leading the charge to provide funding for the development of certified Community Development Corporations (CDCs) as a part of the FY 06–07 state budget. On behalf of the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Association of Community Development Corporations (SCACDC), I commend Governor Sanford and the members of the South Carolina General Assembly for supporting our state’s community development corporations.
SCACDC in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Commerce is happy to announce the availability of $1 million appropriated for the South Carolina Community Economic Development Fund. As a certified community development organization in South Carolina, you are invited to apply for financial support from this fund. Since this is the first time the General Assembly appropriated state funds for CDCs and CDFIs, we are looking to fund projects, programs and enterprises that will provide the State with a reasonable return in economic activity. As a result, we seek to fund certified CDC and CDFI projects that can provide a measurable return within the first year of the grant.
Guidelines and application for the CED Fund can be secured by contacting the S.C. Association of CDCs, (843) 579-9855 or downloading attached files. Please read the guidelines carefully and complete the application package fully. Incomplete packages will be disqualified. Application packages must be returned to the offices of the S.C. Association of CDCs no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 22, 2006. A grant writing workshop will be held on September 12 during the 2006 Housing and CED Summit at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston to give applicants final assistance on the proposal packages.
If you have any questions, feel free to call me at (843) 579-9855. Again, we are excited about this new opportunity to build communities in South Carolina.
Sincerely,
Bernie Mazyck
President and CEO
